In 1989, Environmental Emergency Services, Inc. (E.E.S.), a not-for-profit organization maintaining its offices in Corning, expanded its services to include a Chemical Hazard Information Team (C.H.I.T.). The CHIT was formed to broaden and enhance the service already provided by E.E.S. to the counties of Steuben and Chemung in supplying up-to-the-minute river levels to communities throughout the Chemung River Basin (Flood Warning Service). |
